Deuteronomy 16

BTNT-2026-11-04

Observe the month of Abib and keep the Passover to the LORD your God, for in the month of Abib the LORD your God brought you out of Egypt by night. You shall sacrifice the Passover to the LORD your God, from the flock and the herd, at the place the LORD will choose to make his name dwell there. You shall not eat leavened bread with it. For seven days you shall eat unleavened bread with it, the bread of affliction, for you came out of the land of Egypt in haste, so that all the days of your life you may remember the day you came out of the land of Egypt. No leaven shall be seen with you in all your territory for seven days, and none of the meat you sacrifice on the evening of the first day shall remain until morning. You may not sacrifice the Passover within any of your gates that the LORD your God is giving you, but only at the place the LORD your God will choose to make his name dwell there. There you shall sacrifice the Passover in the evening, at sunset, at the appointed time of your departure from Egypt. You shall cook it and eat it at the place the LORD your God will choose. In the morning, turn and go to your tents. For six days you shall eat unleavened bread, and on the seventh day there shall be a solemn assembly to the LORD your God. You shall do no work. You shall count seven weeks. From when the sickle is first put to the standing grain, begin to count seven weeks. Keep the Feast of Weeks to the LORD your God with the full freewill offering of your hand that you give according to how the LORD your God blesses you. Rejoice before the LORD your God, you, your son and daughter, your male and female slave, the Levite within your gates, and the resident foreigner, the fatherless, and the widow among you, at the place the LORD your God will choose to make his name dwell there. Remember that you were a slave in Egypt, and keep and do these statutes. Keep the Feast of Booths for seven days, when you gather in from your threshing floor and your winepress. Rejoice at your feast, you, your son and daughter, your male and female slave, the Levite, the resident foreigner, the fatherless, and the widow within your gates. For seven days you shall keep the feast to the LORD your God at the place the LORD will choose, for the LORD your God will bless you in all your produce and in all the work of your hands, and you shall be wholly joyful. Three times a year all your males shall appear before the LORD your God at the place he will choose: at the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the Feast of Weeks, and the Feast of Booths. They shall not appear before the LORD empty-handed. Each shall give according to the gift of his hand, according to the blessing the LORD your God has given you. Appoint judges and officers within all your gates that the LORD your God is giving you, according to your tribes, and they shall judge the people with righteous judgment. You shall not pervert justice, show partiality, or take a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and twists the words of the righteous. Justice, justice you shall pursue, so that you may live and possess the land the LORD your God is giving you. You shall not plant an Asherah pole of any kind of wood beside the altar of the LORD your God that you make for yourself. Nor shall you set up a pillar for yourself, which the LORD your God hates.
