The descendants of the gatekeepers—the descendants of Shallum, Ater, Talmon, Akkub, Hatita, and Shobai—139 in all. The temple servants: the descendants of Ziha, Hasupha, and Tabbaoth; of Keros, Siaha, and Padon; of Lebanah, Hagabah, and Akkub; of Hagab, Shamlai, and Hanan; of Giddel, Gahar, and Reaiah; of Rezin, Nekoda, and Gazzam; of Uzza, Paseah, and Besai; of Asnah, Meinim, and Nephisim; of Bakbuk, Hakupha, and Harhur; of Bazluth, Mehida, and Harsha; of Barkos, Sisera, and Tamah; of Neziah and Hatipha. All the temple servants and the descendants of Solomon's servants totaled 392. These came up from Tel-melah, Tel-harsha, Cherub, Addan, and Immer, but they could not establish their ancestral house or their descent, whether they were of Israel: the descendants of Delaiah, Tobiah, and Nekoda, 652. Among the descendants of the priests were the descendants of Habaiah, Hakkoz, and Barzillai, who had married one of the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite and was called by their name. These searched for their entries in the genealogical records, but they were not found, so they were excluded from the priesthood as unclean. The governor told them not to eat of the most holy things until a priest should arise with Urim and Thummim. The whole assembly together numbered 42,360, besides their 7,337 male and female slaves. They also had 200 male and female singers. They had 736 horses and 245 mules, 435 camels and 6,720 donkeys. When they came to the house of the LORD in Jerusalem, some of the heads of the ancestral houses gave freewill offerings for the house of God, to restore it on its site. According to their ability, they gave to the treasury for the work 61,000 gold coins, about 6,250 pounds of silver, and 100 priestly robes. The priests, the Levites, some of the people, the singers, the gatekeepers, and the temple servants settled in their cities, and all Israel in their cities.
