Isaiah 16
BTNT-2026-11-04
render judgment.
Make your shadow like night in the midst of noon.
Hide the outcasts;
do not betray the fugitive. Let my outcasts dwell with you, Moab;
be a shelter for them from the destroyer.
For the extortioner is no more, devastation has ceased, and tramplers have vanished from the land.” A throne shall be established in steadfast love, and one shall sit on it in faithfulness, in the tent of David, judging and seeking justice and swift to do righteousness. We have heard of Moab’s pride, his great pride, his arrogance, his pride, and his fury;
his boasts are empty. Therefore Moab shall wail for Moab;
everyone shall wail.
For the raisin cakes of Kir-hareseth you shall mourn, utterly stricken. For the fields of Heshbon languish, and the vine of Sibmah.
The lords of the nations have struck down its choice vines, which reached Jazer and wandered into the wilderness.
Its shoots spread out and crossed the sea. Therefore I weep with the weeping of Jazer for the vine of Sibmah.
I drench you with my tears, Heshbon and Elealeh, for a shout has fallen upon your summer fruit and your harvest. Gladness and joy are taken away from the fruitful field;
in the vineyards no one sings or shouts.
No treader treads wine in the presses;
I have silenced the harvest shout. Therefore my inward parts moan like a lyre for Moab, and my inmost being for Kir-heres. When Moab presents himself, when he wears himself out on the high place and enters his sanctuary to pray, he will not prevail. This is the word the LORD spoke concerning Moab formerly. But now the LORD has spoken, saying, “Within three years, as a hired worker counts years, Moab’s glory shall be brought into contempt with all its great multitude, and the remnant shall be very small and feeble.”
