Job 10
BTNT-2026-11-04
I will give free rein to my complaint;
I will speak in the bitterness of my soul. I will say to God, ‘Do not condemn me;
let me know why you contend with me. Does it seem good to you to oppress, to reject the work of your hands, and to shine on the counsel of the wicked? Do you have eyes of flesh?
Do you see as a mortal sees? Are your days like the days of a mortal, or your years like the days of a man, that you search for my iniquity and investigate my sin, though you know that I am not guilty and that no one can deliver me from your hand? Your hands shaped me and made me in every part;
yet you destroy me. Remember, please, that you made me like clay.
Will you bring me back to dust? Did you not pour me out like milk and curdle me like cheese? You clothed me with skin and flesh and wove me together with bones and sinews. You granted me life and faithful love, and your care preserved my spirit. But these things you hid in your heart;
I know that this was your purpose: if I sinned, you would watch me and would not acquit me of my iniquity. If I am wicked, woe to me!
If I am righteous, I cannot lift my head.
I am full of shame;
look at my affliction! If my head rises, you hunt me like a lion;
again you display your wondrous power against me. You renew your witnesses against me and increase your anger toward me;
relays of troops are against me. Why did you bring me out of the womb?
If only I had breathed my last and no eye had seen me! I would have been as though I had never existed, carried from the womb to the grave. Are not my days few?
Stop, then, and leave me alone, that I may have a little joy, before I go, never to return, to the land of darkness and the shadow of death, a land of gloom like deep darkness, of the shadow of death without order, where even the light is like deep darkness.’”
