Job 27

BTNT-2026-11-04

Job again took up his discourse and said: “As God lives, who has taken away my right, and the Almighty, who has embittered my soul, as long as my breath is in me and the breath of God is in my nostrils, my lips will not speak injustice, nor will my tongue utter deceit. Far be it from me to declare you right!
Until I breathe my last, I will not give up my integrity.
I hold fast to my righteousness and will not let it go;
my heart does not reproach me for any of my days.
Let my enemy be like the wicked, and the one who rises against me like the unjust. For what hope has the godless when God cuts him off, when he draws out his soul? Will God hear his cry when trouble comes upon him? Will he delight in the Almighty?
Will he call upon God at all times?
I will teach you about the hand of God;
what is with the Almighty I will not conceal.
Look, all of you have seen it;
why then do you speak such emptiness?
This is the wicked man's portion with God, the inheritance the ruthless receive from the Almighty: though his sons grow many, they are for the sword, and his offspring will not have enough bread. His survivors will be buried by death, and his widows will not weep. Though he heaps up silver like dust and prepares clothing like clay, he may prepare it, but the righteous will wear it, and the innocent will divide the silver. He builds his house like a moth, like a booth a watchman has made. He lies down rich, but he will not be gathered;
he opens his eyes, and he is no more.
Terrors overtake him like waters;
a storm steals him away at night.
The east wind lifts him up, and he departs;
it sweeps him from his place.
It hurls itself at him without pity;
he flees desperately from its hand.
They clap their hands at him and hiss him out of his place.
