Proverbs 29
BTNT-2026-11-04
a wicked man does not understand such knowledge. Scoffers inflame a city, but the wise turn away anger. When a wise man goes to court with a fool, whether there is rage or laughter, there is no rest. Bloodthirsty men hate a blameless man, but the upright seek to preserve his life. A fool gives full vent to his spirit, but a wise person holds it back. If a ruler listens to falsehood, all his servants are wicked. The poor man and the oppressor meet together;
the LORD gives light to the eyes of them both. A king who judges the poor faithfully will have his throne established forever. The rod and correction give wisdom, but a child left to himself brings shame to his mother. When the wicked increase, transgression increases, but the righteous will see their downfall. Discipline your son, and he will give you rest;
he will give delight to your soul. Where there is no prophetic vision, the people cast off restraint, but blessed is the one who keeps the law. A servant is not corrected by words alone;
though he understands, he does not respond. Do you see a man hasty in his words?
There is more hope for a fool than for him. Whoever pampers his servant from youth will have him become a son in the end. An angry man stirs up strife, and a man of wrath abounds in transgression. A man’s pride will bring him low, but one who is lowly in spirit will obtain honor. Whoever shares with a thief hates his own life;
he hears the oath’s curse but does not tell. The fear of man brings a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD will be safe. Many seek a ruler’s favor, but a man’s justice comes from the LORD. An unjust man is an abomination to the righteous, and one whose way is upright is an abomination to the wicked.
