Proverbs 8
BTNT-2026-11-04
Does not understanding raise her voice? On the heights beside the road, where the paths meet, she takes her stand. Beside the gates, at the entrance to the city, at the entryways she cries out: “To you, O people, I call;
my voice is to all mankind. You simple ones, learn prudence;
you fools, learn good sense. Listen, for I will speak noble things;
when my lips open, they speak what is right. For my mouth speaks truth, and wickedness is an abomination to my lips. All the words of my mouth are righteous;
there is nothing twisted or crooked in them. They are all plain to the discerning and upright to those who find knowledge. Receive my discipline rather than silver, and knowledge rather than choice gold. For wisdom is better than jewels, and nothing desirable can compare with her. I, wisdom, dwell with prudence, and I find knowledge and discretion. The fear of the LORD is to hate evil.
Pride, arrogance, the evil way, and perverse speech I hate. Counsel and sound wisdom are mine;
I am understanding;
strength is mine. By me kings reign, and rulers decree what is just. By me princes rule, and nobles—all who judge rightly. I love those who love me, and those who seek me earnestly will find me. Riches and honor are with me, enduring wealth and righteousness. My fruit is better than gold, even fine gold, and my yield than choice silver. I walk in the path of righteousness, in the midst of the ways of justice, to give an inheritance of wealth to those who love me, and to fill their treasuries. The LORD possessed me at the beginning of his way, before his works of old. From everlasting I was established, from the beginning, before the origins of the earth. When there were no depths I was brought forth, when there were no springs abounding in water. Before the mountains were settled in place, before the hills, I was brought forth, before he had made the earth and its fields, or the first dust of the world. When he established the heavens, I was there;
when he drew a circle on the face of the deep, when he made firm the clouds above, when the springs of the deep grew strong, when he set the sea its boundary, so that the waters would not transgress his command, when he marked out the foundations of the earth, then I was beside him as a master craftsman.
I was his delight day after day, rejoicing before him at all times, rejoicing in his inhabited world, and my delight was with mankind. Now, sons, listen to me;
blessed are those who keep my ways. Listen to discipline and be wise;
do not disregard it. Blessed is the one who listens to me, watching daily at my doors, waiting beside my doorposts. For whoever finds me finds life and obtains favor from the LORD. But whoever sins against me harms his own life;
all who hate me love death.”
