Psalm 69

BTNT-2026-11-04

Save me, God, for the waters have reached my neck. I have sunk into deep mire where there is no foothold.
I have come into deep waters, and the flood has swept over me.
I am weary from crying out;
my throat is parched.
My eyes fail as I wait for my God.
Those who hate me without cause outnumber the hairs of my head.
Mighty are those who would destroy me, my enemies without reason.
I must restore what I did not steal.
God, you know my foolishness;
my guilt is not hidden from you.
Do not let those who wait for you be put to shame because of me, Lord GOD of hosts.
Do not let those who seek you be disgraced because of me, God of Israel.
For I have borne reproach for your sake;
disgrace has covered my face.
I have become a stranger to my brothers, a foreigner to my mother’s sons. For zeal for your house has consumed me, and the reproaches of those who reproach you have fallen on me. I wept and fasted, and this brought me reproach. I made sackcloth my clothing and became a byword to them. Those who sit at the gate talk about me, and I am the song of those who drink strong drink. But as for me, my prayer is to you, LORD, at a time of favor.
God, in your abundant steadfast love, answer me with your saving faithfulness.
Rescue me from the mire;
do not let me sink.
Let me be rescued from those who hate me and from the deep waters.
Do not let the flood sweep over me, or the deep swallow me, or the pit close its mouth over me. Answer me, LORD, for your steadfast love is good;
turn to me in your abundant compassion.
Do not hide your face from your servant, for I am in distress.
Answer me quickly.
Draw near to my soul and redeem it;
ransom me because of my enemies.
You know my reproach, my shame, and my disgrace;
all my adversaries are before you.
Reproach has broken my heart, and I am sick.
I looked for sympathy, but there was none, and for comforters, but I found none.
They put poison in my food and gave me vinegar to drink for my thirst. Let their table before them become a snare, and their security a trap. Let their eyes grow dark so they cannot see, and make their loins tremble continually. Pour out your indignation on them;
let your burning anger overtake them.
Let their camp be desolate;
let no one live in their tents.
For they persecute the one you have struck, and they talk about the pain of those you have wounded. Add guilt to their guilt, and do not let them enter into your righteousness. Let them be erased from the book of the living and not be inscribed with the righteous. But I am afflicted and in pain;
let your salvation, God, set me safely on high.
I will praise the name of God with a song and magnify him with thanksgiving. This will please the LORD more than an ox, more than a bull with horns and hooves. The humble will see and rejoice.
You who seek God, let your hearts live!
For the LORD hears the needy and does not despise his prisoners. Let heaven and earth praise him, the seas and everything that moves in them. For God will save Zion and rebuild the cities of Judah;
they will dwell there and possess it.
The offspring of his servants will inherit it, and those who love his name will dwell in it.
