Psalm 90

BTNT-2026-11-04

Lord, you have been our dwelling place through all generations. Before the mountains were born, before you brought forth the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God. You return mortals to dust and say, “Return, children of Adam.” For a thousand years in your eyes are like yesterday when it has passed, like a watch in the night. You sweep them away;
they are like sleep, like grass that sprouts in the morning.
In the morning it blossoms and grows;
by evening it withers and dries up.
For we are consumed by your anger and terrified by your wrath. You have set our guilt before you, our secrets in the light of your face. For all our days pass away under your wrath;
we finish our years like a sigh.
The years of our life are seventy, or eighty if we have strength;
yet their pride is toil and sorrow, for they pass quickly, and we fly away.
Who knows the power of your anger, your wrath according to the fear you are due? Teach us so to number our days that we may gain a heart of wisdom. Return, LORD!
How long?
Have compassion on your servants.
Satisfy us in the morning with your steadfast love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days. Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us, for as many years as we have seen trouble. Let your work be seen by your servants, and your majesty by their children. Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us.
Establish the work of our hands for us;
yes, establish the work of our hands.
