Job 5

BTNT-2026-11-04

Call now! Is there anyone to answer you?
To which of the holy ones will you turn?
For anger kills a fool, and envy slays the naive. I have seen a fool taking root, but at once I cursed his dwelling. His sons are far from safety;
they are crushed at the gate, and there is no one to rescue them.
The hungry eat up his harvest, taking it even from among the thorns, and a snare snaps at their wealth. For affliction does not come from the dust, nor does trouble sprout from the ground. For a person is born to trouble, as sparks fly upward. But as for me, I would seek God, and to God I would commit my cause. He does great things beyond searching out, wonders without number. He gives rain over the earth and sends water over the fields. He sets the lowly on high, and those who mourn are lifted to safety. He frustrates the plans of the crafty, so that their hands cannot achieve success. He catches the wise in their own craftiness, and the plans of the devious are rushed headlong. They meet darkness by day and grope at noon as in the night. But he saves the needy from the sword of their mouths and from the hand of the powerful. So the poor have hope, and injustice shuts its mouth. Blessed is the mortal whom God corrects;
do not despise the discipline of the Almighty.
For he causes pain, but he binds up;
he wounds, but his hands heal.
From six troubles he will deliver you;
in seven, no harm will touch you.
In famine he will redeem you from death, and in war from the power of the sword. You will be sheltered from the lash of the tongue and will not fear devastation when it comes. You will laugh at devastation and hunger;
do not fear the beasts of the earth.
For you will have a covenant with the stones of the field, and the beasts of the field will be at peace with you. You will know that your tent is at peace;
you will inspect your dwelling and find nothing missing.
You will know that your descendants are numerous, and your offspring like the grass of the earth. You will come to the grave at full maturity, as a stack of grain rises in its season. Look, we have searched this out, and so it is.
Hear it, and know it for yourself.”
