Leviticus 4

BTNT-2026-11-04

The LORD spoke to Moses, saying, “Speak to the Israelites, saying: ‘When anyone sins unintentionally by doing any of the things the LORD’s commandments forbid, if the anointed priest sins, bringing guilt on the people, he shall present to the LORD a young bull without blemish as a sin offering for the sin he has committed. He shall bring the bull to the entrance of the Tent of Meeting before the LORD, lay his hand on the head of the bull, and slaughter the bull before the LORD. The anointed priest shall take some of the bull’s blood and bring it into the Tent of Meeting. The priest shall dip his finger in the blood and sprinkle some of the blood seven times before the LORD, in front of the veil of the sanctuary. The priest shall put some of the blood on the horns of the altar of fragrant incense before the LORD, which is in the Tent of Meeting. He shall pour all the bull’s blood at the base of the altar of burnt offering at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting. He shall remove all the fat from the bull of the sin offering: the fat that covers the entrails and all the fat that is on the entrails, the two kidneys and the fat on them by the flanks, and the lobe of the liver, which he shall remove with the kidneys, as it is removed from the ox of the peace offering. The priest shall turn them into smoke on the altar of burnt offering. The skin of the bull and all its flesh, with its head and its legs, its entrails and its dung— he shall carry the whole bull outside the camp to a clean place where the ashes are poured out, and burn it on wood with fire. It shall be burned where the ashes are poured out. If the whole congregation of Israel errs and the matter is hidden from the eyes of the assembly, and they do one of the things the LORD’s commandments forbid and become guilty, when the sin they have committed becomes known, the assembly shall present a young bull as a sin offering and bring it before the Tent of Meeting. The elders of the congregation shall lay their hands on the head of the bull before the LORD, and the bull shall be slaughtered before the LORD. The anointed priest shall bring some of the bull’s blood into the Tent of Meeting. The priest shall dip his finger in some of the blood and sprinkle it seven times before the LORD, in front of the veil. He shall put some of the blood on the horns of the altar before the LORD, which is in the Tent of Meeting. He shall pour all the blood at the base of the altar of burnt offering at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting. He shall remove all its fat from it and turn it into smoke on the altar. He shall do with the bull as he did with the bull of the sin offering; so he shall do with it. The priest shall make atonement for them, and they shall be forgiven. He shall carry the bull outside the camp and burn it as he burned the first bull. It is the sin offering of the assembly. When a ruler sins and unintentionally does one of the things the commandments of the LORD his God forbid, and becomes guilty, or if the sin he has committed is made known to him, he shall bring as his offering a male goat without blemish. He shall lay his hand on the head of the goat and slaughter it in the place where the burnt offering is slaughtered before the LORD. It is a sin offering. The priest shall take some of the blood of the sin offering with his finger and put it on the horns of the altar of burnt offering. He shall pour its blood at the base of the altar of burnt offering. He shall turn all its fat into smoke on the altar, like the fat of the peace offering. The priest shall make atonement for him for his sin, and he shall be forgiven. If anyone of the common people sins unintentionally by doing one of the things the LORD’s commandments forbid, and becomes guilty, or if the sin he has committed is made known to him, he shall bring as his offering a female goat without blemish for the sin he has committed. He shall lay his hand on the head of the sin offering and slaughter the sin offering in the place of the burnt offering. The priest shall take some of its blood with his finger and put it on the horns of the altar of burnt offering. He shall pour all its blood at the base of the altar. He shall remove all its fat as the fat is removed from the peace offering. The priest shall turn it into smoke on the altar as a pleasing aroma to the LORD. The priest shall make atonement for him, and he shall be forgiven. If he brings a lamb as his offering for a sin offering, he shall bring a female without blemish. He shall lay his hand on the head of the sin offering and slaughter it as a sin offering in the place where the burnt offering is slaughtered. The priest shall take some of the blood of the sin offering with his finger and put it on the horns of the altar of burnt offering. He shall pour all its blood at the base of the altar. He shall remove all its fat as the fat of the lamb is removed from the peace offering. The priest shall turn them into smoke on the altar, on top of the offerings by fire to the LORD. The priest shall make atonement for him for the sin he has committed, and he shall be forgiven.
