Proverbs 18

Whoever isolates himself seeks his own desire;
he breaks out against all sound wisdom. A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in revealing his own heart. When a wicked man comes, contempt comes too, and with disgrace comes reproach. The words of a man’s mouth are deep waters;
the fountain of wisdom is a flowing stream. It is not good to show partiality to the wicked, depriving the righteous of justice. A fool’s lips enter into strife, and his mouth calls for blows. A fool’s mouth is his ruin, and his lips are a snare for his life. The words of a whisperer are like delicious morsels;
they go down into the innermost parts of the body. Whoever is slack in his work is a brother to a destroyer. The name of the LORD is a strong tower;
the righteous run into it and are safe. A rich man’s wealth is his fortified city, like a high wall in his imagination. Before destruction a man’s heart is haughty, but humility comes before honor. If anyone answers before he listens, it is folly and shame to him. A man’s spirit sustains him in sickness, but who can bear a broken spirit? The heart of the discerning acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge. A man’s gift makes room for him and leads him before the great. The first to state his case seems right, until his neighbor comes and examines him. Casting lots puts an end to disputes and decides between the mighty. An offended brother is harder to win than a fortified city, and quarrels are like the bars of a fortress. A man’s belly is satisfied by the fruit of his mouth;
he is satisfied by the yield of his lips. Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit. Whoever finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the LORD. A poor man speaks with pleas, but a rich man answers harshly. A man of many companions comes to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
