Psalm 106

BTNT-2026-11-04

Praise the LORD!
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good;
his steadfast love endures forever.
Who can recount the mighty deeds of the LORD or proclaim all his praise? Blessed are those who uphold justice, who do righteousness at all times. Remember me, LORD, with the favor you show your people;
visit me with your salvation,
that I may see the prosperity of your chosen ones, rejoice in the joy of your nation, and glory with your inheritance. We have sinned with our fathers;
we have acted perversely and done wickedly.
Our fathers in Egypt did not understand your wonders or remember your many acts of steadfast love;
they rebelled by the sea, at the Red Sea.
Yet he saved them for his name’s sake, to make his might known. He rebuked the Red Sea, and it dried up;
he led them through the depths as through a wilderness.
He saved them from the hand of those who hated them and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy. The waters covered their adversaries;
not one of them remained.
Then they believed his words and sang his praise. But they soon forgot his works;
they did not wait for his counsel.
They craved intensely in the wilderness and tested God in the wasteland. He gave them what they asked for, but sent wasting disease among them. They envied Moses in the camp, and Aaron, the holy one of the LORD. The earth opened and swallowed Dathan;
it covered the company of Abiram.
Fire blazed among their company;
a flame burned up the wicked.
They made a calf at Horeb and bowed down to a cast-metal image. They exchanged their glory for the image of an ox that eats grass. They forgot God their Savior, who had done great things in Egypt, wonders in the land of Ham, awesome deeds by the Red Sea. He said he would destroy them, had not Moses his chosen one stood in the breach before him, to turn back his wrath from destroying them. They despised the pleasant land and did not believe his word. They grumbled in their tents and did not listen to the voice of the LORD. So he raised his hand in an oath to them, to make them fall in the wilderness, to make their offspring fall among the nations and scatter them among the lands. They yoked themselves to Baal of Peor and ate sacrifices offered to the dead. They provoked him to anger by their deeds, and a plague broke out among them. Then Phinehas stood up and intervened, and the plague was stopped. It was counted to him as righteousness through all generations forever. They angered him at the waters of Meribah, and trouble came to Moses because of them, because they rebelled against his Spirit, and Moses spoke rashly with his lips. They did not destroy the peoples as the LORD had commanded them, but mingled with the nations and learned their practices. They served their idols, which became a snare to them. They sacrificed their sons and daughters to demons. They shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, and the land was polluted with blood. They defiled themselves by their deeds and prostituted themselves by their practices. Then the LORD’s anger burned against his people, and he abhorred his inheritance. He gave them into the hand of the nations, and those who hated them ruled over them. Their enemies oppressed them, and they were subdued under their hand. Many times he rescued them, but they rebelled in their schemes and sank down in their guilt. Yet he looked on their distress when he heard their cry. For their sake he remembered his covenant and relented according to his many acts of steadfast love. He caused all their captors to have compassion on them. Save us, LORD our God, and gather us from among the nations, that we may give thanks to your holy name and glory in your praise. Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting!
Let all the people say, “Amen!”
Praise the LORD!
