Psalm 107
BTNT-2026-11-04
his steadfast love endures forever. Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, those he redeemed from the hand of the adversary and gathered from the lands, from the east and the west, from the north and the sea. They wandered in the wilderness along a desolate way;
they found no city to dwell in. Hungry and thirsty, their souls fainted within them. Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he rescued them from their distress. He led them by a straight way to a city where they could dwell. Let them give thanks to the LORD for his steadfast love, for his wonders for the children of Adam. For he satisfies the thirsty soul and fills the hungry soul with good things. Some sat in darkness and the shadow of death, prisoners in affliction and iron, because they had rebelled against the words of God and despised the counsel of the Most High. He humbled their hearts with hard labor;
they stumbled, and there was no one to help. Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death and tore their chains apart. Let them give thanks to the LORD for his steadfast love, for his wonders for the children of Adam. For he shattered doors of bronze and cut through bars of iron. Fools suffered because of their rebellious ways and their guilt. They loathed all food and drew near to the gates of death. Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. He sent his word and healed them;
he rescued them from their pits. Let them give thanks to the LORD for his steadfast love, for his wonders for the children of Adam. Let them offer sacrifices of thanksgiving and recount his works with joyful singing. Those who go down to the sea in ships, doing business on the mighty waters, have seen the works of the LORD and his wonders in the deep. He spoke and raised a storm wind that lifted its waves. They rose to the heavens and sank to the depths;
their souls melted in their calamity. They reeled and staggered like a drunkard;
all their skill was swallowed up. Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he brought them out of their distress. He turned the storm to calm, and the waves grew quiet. They rejoiced because the waters were quiet, and he guided them to the harbor they desired. Let them give thanks to the LORD for his steadfast love, for his wonders for the children of Adam. Let them exalt him in the assembly of the people and praise him in the council of the elders. He turns rivers into wilderness, springs of water into thirsty ground, fruitful land into a salt waste, because of the wickedness of those who dwell in it. He turns wilderness into pools of water, dry ground into springs. There he settles the hungry, and they establish a city to dwell in. They sow fields and plant vineyards that yield a fruitful harvest. He blesses them, and they multiply greatly;
he does not let their cattle decrease. Then they diminish and are brought low through oppression, calamity, and sorrow. He pours contempt on nobles and makes them wander in a trackless waste. But he lifts the needy high above affliction and makes their families like flocks. The upright see and rejoice, and all wickedness shuts its mouth. Whoever is wise, let him heed these things and consider the LORD’s acts of steadfast love.
