Psalm 38
BTNT-2026-11-04
like a heavy burden they weigh too much for me. My wounds stink and fester because of my folly. I am bent and bowed down deeply;
all day I go about in mourning. For my loins are filled with burning, and there is no soundness in my flesh. I am numb and utterly crushed;
I roar from the turmoil of my heart. Lord, all my longing lies before you, and my sighing is not hidden from you. My heart pounds, my strength leaves me;
even the light of my eyes is gone. My friends and companions stand apart from my wound, and those close to me stand far away. Those who seek my life lay snares;
those who seek my harm speak of ruin and ponder deceit all day. But I am like a deaf man who does not hear, like a man unable to speak who does not open his mouth. I have become like a man who does not hear, with no rebuttal in his mouth. For I wait for you, LORD;
you will answer, Lord my God. For I said, “Do not let them rejoice over me;
when my foot slips, they exalt themselves over me.” For I am ready to stumble, and my pain is always before me. I confess my iniquity;
I am troubled over my sin. But my enemies are vigorous and strong, and those who hate me wrongfully have grown in number. Those who repay evil for good oppose me because I pursue what is good. Do not forsake me, LORD;
my God, do not be far from me. Hurry to help me, Lord, my salvation.
